The Property Lawyers Alliance (PLA) is encouraging all solicitors to sign up to attend the Law Society AGM taking place on the 8th October 2025. The deadline for registration is Friday 26 September.
On the 3rd September the Law Society Gazette published an article by Law Society CEO Ian Jeffrey calling for a reform of the rules surrounding the rights of members to call a special general meeting.
PLA successfully petitioned the last Law Society SGM in June 2024 which indirectly lead to the reversal of the implementation of the tremendously unpopular 5th edition of the Property Information Form.
PLA is concerned that the updated rules, if implemented, pose a significant threat to the ability of Law Society members to hold the executive to account, particularly in light of the society’s tendency to disregard the wishes of its members.
